Links not working and disconnecting

Hi,

What could cause links from outlook to stop working, the computer giving a
message it's been disconnected, while it's still connected, only able to
download one mail at a time, Explorer not loading web pages, lots of "RPC
service failed" in the eventlog.

Any idea?

Possibly the Blaster worm. Have a look here for definition and removal
tool.

Just a P.S. If you haven't already, install a reputable anti virus
software and ALWAYS keep it's virus definitions up-to-date. Install a
firewall (if you don't already have one installed) and install the
Microsoft RPC patch if it is relevant to your current operating
system.

These are not my computers, there are three of them in two different
countries actually that is showing these symptoms. I sent kb823980scan to
one friend a week ago, and have confirmed two of the computers were patched.
None of them say they have seen the shut down dialouge box...
