Good Luck is what I have to say.
That's why you said you see "A LOT of articles" on the subject.
Talk is cheap.
There may never be action brought against these people that can't
eventually be dismissed.
If the computer is able to have a virus written for it, then it must
be ok. I mean like what ? in today's world, are people really
expected to be nice, ok, decent and protective, mindful and respectful
of others' property ? Then Dream on, because that's way too
hilarious a fantasy.
It's also funny when people get hit with worms and viruses.
We've all suspected for a while it's the people selling anti-virus
software that are behind this, very possibly including Microsoft. If
it wasn't, then they'd have come up with a version of Windows that
doesn't get infected - with all their patches and services packs (some
of which actually dont work and need service packs and patches to fix
the ones that dont work!).

"Your old model automobile pollutes too much." So you go out and buy a
new car. Several years later "Oh your new car pollutes too much, you
need the new EPA model". Again, you go out and buy a new car. Again,
several years later . . . . . .
****************
The lesson? If you have installed a/v software, the companies and
virus writers attack those computers first, and then 'unprotected'
machines like mine. My computer's protection comes from the fact that
everyone is raiding the stores for a/v protection, evey time some
notice of a worm arises. I may never have to install anything on my
comptuers, since there are so many 'protected' computers on the
Internet. I've yet to be hit with anything.
I came to this newsgroup, to see if I can find a site on the current
virus situation, and how this latest worm actually functions. I'm not
worried about it, just interested in how it's able to do what the
'virus' author, which IMHO has a perfectly legal right to do, intended
for it to do..
If I get hit ? Hey, so what ? I'll stand up and cheer the effort.
I do something that worried people don't do. I make regular back-ups.
Another problem is that people go to sites that they're not supposed
to, on the job, thereby forcing the corporation to close it's data
systems down. I expect to hear that sort of thing on David Letterman.
Really, it serves those corporations right for hiring such employees
and for firing it's own s/w developers and giving their job overseas,
where the salaries are cheaper.
FINE, LET THEM OVERSEAS PEOPLE FIX THE INFECTED COMPUTERS, AT A
DISCOUNTED PRICE . ! ! ! !

I've seen a lot of articles in newspapers and the television talking about
virus writers and malware programmers being able to face possible jailtime
in several countries. Anyone have any links to something like that, I think
it'd make a great read...
