Is is possible to download all of the common Windows updates for XP &
98 to a CD-R? If so, how?

I know people that need these, but they're stuck with a modem for
downloading the files. With over 50 megs worth of patches for XP for
example, that's almost an impossible task without high speed Internet
access.

I'd like them to scan their computer using Windows Update, make note
of which files they need, and then I can burn a CD-R for them with the
needed files. It would also be a good thing to have around in case
of a hard drive crash.

If you know how to do this, send me an e-mail to let
me know you've followed up this message: ***@ids.net

Thanks..

When you go to Windows update look in the left hand column and click
Personalize Windows Update. Then check the box to display Windows Update
Catalog. After that you will have a link to Windows Update Catalog in the
left hand menu. From there you can download the updates to your computer
and then burn them on a CD-R.

That's really cool - thanks! I've wanted to be able to do the
same thing myself - be able to load all updates from a CD instead
of a dial-up connection.
